Cancun to Playa del Carmen
It's so strange how it already feels like this trip has gone on for weeks now... but it's only been 3 days.
So far it's been raining off and on since arrival. Luck has still been on my side with little indications like the first torrential downpour happened just after I found a cheap room near the bus station in downtown Cancun. Stomping around fully loaded while looking for a room would not have been pleasant.
Then, I take the ferry over to Isla Mujeres and get just enough photos before it started to rain again. Just before the rain started, it just so happened that some new friends who know my wife, etc. were in Isla too & hailed me down for an island visit! They're staying in a nice condo and we had an awesome afternoon drinking and telling stories as the rain fell.
Then, a friend offers to let me use his family's beautiful condo in Playa del Carmen (about an hour South of Cancun). Just perfect while I get my travel legs and make a little video to launch my Kickstarter project. Much easier in a condo with wifi than trying to do it from a hostel. ;)
So, yes it's raining off and on, but the trip so far is going swimmingly!
I've been given permission to use the condo through July 4th which is awfully tempting, but I will likely move on before then. Don't want to get too comfy ya know. ;)
The Kickstarter project is one where folks will be given the opportunity to pledge support at various levels in exchange for cool creative rewards like books & prints, etc. that I'll be producing from this trip. More on that later. In addition to the little project video I need to make before launching the project, I have to spell out everything & give it a title. I'm calling it, "Off The Deep End". Here's the graphic I just made to go with the project. Made it with an iPhone so needed to keep it simple.
Hope you like it. :)
Stay tuned!

Hope the downpours continue; you can get some incredibly moody skies :-)
I just heard today that I'll be getting a commission to design a villa somewhere between Coba and Tulum. Isn't that somewhere near where you are now?
Thanks! Yes it is. About an hour I think. Really nice architecture in this area. You'll love it!
